Sixt Australia Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012

General Rental Information
The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving licence.
International renters/drivers also need an international driver's licence and a valid passport.
Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving licence.
Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates
Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of AUD 30.00. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.

Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Age Restrictions
Driver has to be in possession of a valid driving licence for at least 1 year.
In Australia, the following rules apply for the minimum age:
21 years/1 year for vehicle groups ECAR, CDAR, IDAR
25 years/1 year for vehicle groups SDAR, FDAR, FFAR, FVAR
A Young Driver Surcharge of AUD 16.50 per day, max. AUD 231.00 per month started applies for drivers under 25 years.

Conditions of Payment
Flexi-Tariff

All credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard and Visa - are accepted.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (VISA Electron).
Cheques are not accepted.
Cash Payment is not accepted.
Prepaid Tariff
The following credit cards are accepted: Mastercard, AmericanExpress Card, VISA Card, Diners Card.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the start of rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of the rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus Value Added Tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.
Generally
Before one of the vehicles is hired, we always obtain a deposit of AUD 100.- to AUD 1,000.- depending on the car group.

General Insurance Conditions
Third Party Insurance (TI)

Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of AUD 30 millions for material damages and with unlimited cover for personal injuries.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
Loss Damage Waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.
All rates are inclusive of LDW.
Customer is only responsible for the following amounts:

Top Cover LDW
If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Top Cover LDW to reduce/eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If Top Cover LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts:

Super Top Cover LDW
If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Super Top Cover LDW to reduce/eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If Super Top Cover LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: AUD 0,-.
Drivers over 75 and under 25 years old cannot reduce their liability to zero.

Tire and Glass Coverage (GT)
Tire and Glass Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
The cost of GT is as follows: see table
If GT is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
If GT is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: AUD 0.-.

All One-Way Rentals are on request. Please contact the local rental station.
For One-Way-Rentals within Sixt locations in Australia a charge of AUD 110.- up to AUD 1,100.00 applies.

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions
The Renter must not use the vehicle outside the permitted area of use. If the renter takes the vehicle outside the permitted area of use their liability for any loss or damage will increase and any optional insurance selected void.
For vehicles rented in Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania & South Australia, the permitted area of use does not include Western Australia or the Northern Territory. Vehicles may not be driven in the Northern Territory no matter where they are rented from.
Western Australia
For those vehicles hired from Western Australia, the Permitted Area of Use does not include any other states or Territories of Australia and does not include any place further north than Exmouth (21°54'S / 114°10'E), or further east than Kalgoorlie-Boulder Township (30°40'S / 121°22'E) or further east than Esperance (33°45'S / 121°55'E).
Queensland
The Permitted Area of Use in Queensland does not include any place further north than Cooktown (15°30'S / 145°16'E) or in a westerly direction beyond Chillagoe (17°07'S / 144°33'E) and Georgetown (18°17'S / 143°33'E). The Permitted Area of Use does not include the 'Bloomfield Track' coastal route between Cape Tribulation (16°05'S / 145°29'E) and Cooktown (15°30'S / 145°16'E) or Fraser Island or Stradbroke Island.
South Australia
The Permitted Area of Use in South Australia does not include any place further north than Wilpena (31°25'S / 139°29'E), or in a westerly direction beyond Ceduna (32°07'S / 133°46'E)
Road Toll Passes
Australia has a significant number of toll roads in particular Melbourne and Sydney many of which are cashless. Tolls vary dependant on the road used and the length of the journey. Every Sixt vehicle is fitted with an electronic toll pass. Customers can pay a flat daily fee to receive unlimited toll use across the country. If a Customer declines this option and the vehicle travels through a toll collection point, they will be charged for the toll and an administration fee.
The administration fee amounts to AUD 15,- per toll.

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise a charge of AUD 2,75 per litre of petrol (in addition to a tanking fee of AUD 25,00) will apply.

Vehicle Cleaning
In case the car requires a special cleaning procedure (i.e. animal hair, sand etc) after returning, a charge of AUD 275,- will apply.

Administation Fee For Fine
If the renter has a traffic/parking fine during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee of AUD 55.-.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
